A GEEKS LOVE STORY
Our Story
It all started approx. 22 years ago where two teenages with dial-up joined a game called USI – an online Email Role Playing Game (story writing). Over the years we kept in touch through facebook and other (older) social media until March 2020 when Sam finally got back into gaming.
April 2020
How It All Began (again)!
As COVID-19 started to spread and world wide lockdowns took place, Sam moved in with her sister Vicki and borrowed her laptop to connect with some work friends to play games. As a result, Sam created a Discord account and reached out to Matt, knowing he was a gamer and would know some good co-op games (introducing – Pulsar – because any game Matt seems to be playing has some form of space link ;)).
Over the space of several months, Sam and Matt spoke every day through chat, or whatsapp calls or just simple memes. All until the 27th June 2020 where Sam (after changing her mind) asked Matt if he still wanted to “give this a go”.

The First Christmas
Due to lockdowns, and Sam’s first foot surgery they weren’t able to physically meet up until December 2021 where Matt came to visit Sam in Leeds.
It was here where Sam and Matt discussed the future and if long distance was something they both could do. Sam agreed as long as they saw each other a minimum of twice a year.

UK Engagement Do
To celebrate the engagement, Sam organised a UK family meal with Matt.
The party included (left to Right): Elizabeth (mum), Ben (brother), Neil (step-dad), Rosalind (sister-in-law), Katy (sister), Liz (aunty), David (cousin-in-law) who’s holding Josh (his son), The two in the middle we know! Eric (at the back, nephew) held by Jen (cousin) who you can’t see, Chris (brother-in-law), Kath (step-mum), Bob (uncle) holding Tody (his grandson), Trevor (dad).

US Wedding Shower
Sam came for a visit before knowing that the process was going to happen so quickly!
Matts’ amazing aunts/cousins and dad organised a wedding shower for them both!
Unfortunately Sam didn’t get all the photos so here is one of them with Matt’s dad, Brian!
August 17th 2024
They got Married!
They finally got the K1 visa approval and needed to get hitched within 3 months of Sam’s arrival.
They organised a small (and very quick at 7 minutes!!) ceremony at an Air BnB and streamed it for everyone else to see!
Now we get to celebrate with you all in style on the 7th September 2025!
